Stress Ulcer.
It used to be believed that there was such a thing as a stress
ulcer, caused by chronic emotional stress and doctors used to tell
patients with ulcers to reduce their stress levels. But patients
who took steps to reduce the stress in their lives saw no
improvement in their stress ulcer. Now it is known that emotional
stress does not cause ulcers but it may make them worse. Bacteria
have been shown to cause a stress ulcer, which is good news to the
millions of people with a stress ulcer because they can be cured
simply by taking a dose of antibiotics.
A stress ulcer is an opening in the lining of the stomach or the
intestine. It causes pain and burning. Peptic ulcers are caused by
stomach acid and pepsin. When peptic ulcers are in the stomach,
they are called gastric ulcers. When peptic ulcers occur in the
intestine they are called duodenal ulcers.
There are two types of stress: physical and emotional. Until quite
recently, it was thought that emotional stress causes a stress
ulcer. In actuality, emotional stress may make an ulcer more
painful and more difficult to heal but the stress itself does not
cause an ulcer. Physical stress, on the other hand, can cause an
ulcer. Physical stress is experienced by those who have gone
through major surgery or suffered severe burns.
A stress ulcer is now known to be caused by bacteria. This is good
news because a stress ulcer can easily be cured with a dose of
antibiotics. Doctor Barry Marshall made the discovery that a
stress ulcer is not caused by stress but by bacteria about fifteen
years ago, however, most doctors still held onto the belief that
stress causes an ulcer. Doctors would tell patients to reduce
their stress levels, but when they did reduce their stress; their
ulcer did not go away. On the other hand, when patients are given
antibiotics, their ulcers were cured.
A stress ulcer is not caused by stress but is caused by bacteria
called H.pylori. However, only twenty seven percent of Americans
are aware of this fact. The rest still think stress causes an
ulcer.
If you experience trouble dealing with stress, we
recommend using
Extress.
Extress is a homeopathic and nutrition
supplement that is exceptionally effective in providing the body
with the nutritional requirements which aid the body during
periods of stress, tension, anxiety, minor phobic reactions and
complaints of generalized patterns of anxious discomfort.
The natural ingredients in Extress complement the body's natural powers
to reduce stress and anxiety. The specific doctor-formulated Extress
formula naturally diminishes emotional sensitivity and mood
swings, calms and focuses attention, relaxes muscles and reduces the possibility of stress-induced head pain and muscle aches.
Extress also helps diminish hyperactivity, aggression and anger
outbursts.
Some ulcers are caused by medications such as ibuprofen, Feldene,
Naprosyn, Voltaren, Idocin, Aleve, Lodine and others. These drugs
can cause damage to the stomach lining which allows the gastric
juices to eat away at the stomach and cause an ulcer.
Although stress may not be cause an ulcer, if you have an ulcer
that cannot be cured by antibiotics, you should take steps to
reduce stress in order to prevent an ulcer from getting worse. One
of the best stress relievers and promoters of weight loss, muscle
gain and feelings of well being is exercise. If the benefits
derived from exercise could be put into a bottle, it would be a
best-seller. Exercise makes us feel better because the body
releases chemicals called endorphins which not only relieve stress
but also cause a reduction in cortisol levels. Yoga is a great
form of exercise to relive stress because it both strengthens
muscles and helps you concentrate on breathing and relaxation.
Simple meditation can also help relive stress.
