Ocean Glycerin Soap-A Clearly Natural Glycerin Soap.
The white base and the ground herbs make
this look like an old-fashioned hand soap, and the mica adds
just a touch of sparkle.
1 lb. Opaque melt & pour soap base
Lilac and blue mica colorants
1 Tbsp. Oceania fragrance oil
1 tsp. Dried apple mint
1 tsp. Dried lemon or lime balm
2 Vitamin E capsules
1 tsp. Castor oil
To Make This Clearly Natural Glycerin Soap:
In a double boiler, heat soap base and colorants until about half of the base is
melted. Remove from heat and cover until base is fully melted. Stir in fragrance
oil, finely ground herbs, Vitamin E, and castor oil. Gently stir until colorants
evenly distributed and base begins to cool and thicken. Pour into molds.
The herbs add a top note of the Oceania fragrance oil. If
a tablespoon of fragrance oil is used, this will be fairly heavily scented
clearly natural glycerin soap.
Glycerin can be found at health food
stores, some drug stores, craft stores or major department stores. Glycerin
is a gentle skin moisturizer soap that is available in clear and opaque.
Glycerin can make your ocean glycerin soap less intimidating because glycerin soap recipes
don't require lye and fats. The trick to great glycerin soaps is to keep the
heat as low as possible. High heating temperatures heat will produce a mushy
or beaded appearance. To keep the glycerin from attracting moisture from the
air, tightly wrap the glycerin soaps in plastic after making.
Boxes and
baskets can be nice containers for this clearly natural glycerin soap, especially when you fill the boxes with
other materials. You can fill the box or basket halfway with herbs, dried
flowers or potpourri that matches the scent of your soap. Gift basket fillings,
other toiletries, washcloths or sponges also make great fillers in the basket
with your soap. Once you have added the filler and ocean glycerin soap, wrap the box or basket
in cellophane.
Coffee mugs also great "baskets." Add a filler to the cup and
place a bar of soap in the center and wrap with cellophane or tulle. Small brown
paper bags, cello type bags, wood crates and soap dishes are other containers
you can use to package your ocean glycerin soap.
