Loofah Sponge Soap - An Exfoliating
Natural Soap
Recipe.
Try this Loofah Sponge Soap
for a soap that exfoliates while cleaning. This exfoliating
natural soap will leave your skin clean and fresh.
1 cardboard frozen juice container (not a can because you'll
have to peel it away)
1 long loofah sponge to fit in the can
1/4 lb. melt & pour glycerin soap, grated
Essential oil of choice
To Make This Exfoliating Natural Soap:
Stuff the loofah into the juice container. Melt soap base. Blend
in a few drops of essential oil of your choice and pour into the container
about 1/3 at a time. This gives the soap time to settle into the loofah
and firm up. Continue until the container is about 1 inch or so
from the top. After the soap has hardened completely, peel away
the paper container and what you now have is a "log" of
exfoliating natural
soap. You can now slice this into any thickness you like.
Packaging and presentation play a predominant role in the
gift-giving of your loofah soap. Below are
several packaging ideas, but don’t let this brief list limit
your creativity!
Sticky labels, round labels and
heavyweight card stock can be used for labeling your exfoliating natural
soap.
Cellophane and polypropylene are clear
plastics that can be used as packaging for odd-shaped soaps and scented
soaps like your loofah soap. Jute weave washcloths or tulle also make wonderful soap wraps. Fabric
can be wrapped around soap like a gift and tied with a ribbon. Different
fabrics will provide different effects. Corduroy and velour provide a rich,
plush look while silk gives an elegant look. Calico and burlap throw a truly
"rustic" look. The fabric you use depends largely on the soap you made.
Coffee mugs
can be great "baskets" for your exfoliating natural
soap. Add a
filler to the cup and place a bar of soap in the center and wrap with
cellophane or tulle. Small brown paper bags, cello type bags, wood crates
and soap dishes are other containers you can use to package your exfoliating
natural soap.
Paper is a popular packaging medium
because of the variety available. You can use brown Kraft paper,
marbled paper, gift wrap, wallpaper, any kind of paper you want. Your
creativity is the limit! You can use your computer to add designs and logos
to plain paper or you can paint or draw on the paper for an added personal
touch for your loofah soap. You can wrap individual bars like a gift and either leave plain or
add extra embellishment by tie with ribbons, cording, raffia or lace.
